My life as a bishoujo sucks and I hate it. No, scratch that. I loathe it. Simple as that. Everywhere I go, there are at least 13 guys who chases after me. And notice the number "13". The bad luck number. And it just so happens to be the day of my birthday. I was born on Friday October 13. To make matters worse, I'm the princess of the Earth Kingdom.
I am also 16, which is of marrying age so every one of the guys in my "fan club" wants to be that lucky man. People may suspect that I cannot earth bend, but the truth is I can do air, water, earth, and fire; all of which I had taught myself in my spare time with scrolls.
But that all changed when I found out that I'd been engaged. His name is Takeshi; a fire bender. I have a photo of him that my parents had given me when they told me about the engagement.
Of course, he liked me. Even though he is good looking and all... I don't love him. My soul mate would be the type of person that isn't all over me like all the fan boys. So that night, I ran away with my important stuff like money, some food (which isn't much, just 265 dollars I saved up), and an Earth Kingdom dress for... Just incase. And my outfit that I'll wear is this:
I'm hot, aren't I? See, that's why I have a fan club. Well, that's it for now. Chao! Oh! Almost forgot. I am Chin! A bishoujo who hates her life as one...
--
"Chin, dear." Chin's mother said and knocked on the door to her daughter's room. "Chin...?" She opened the door fully to expect her daughter still sound asleep, but found that she wasn't in bed at all. "Hong!" She yelled for her husband.
King Hong was drinking some tea and when he had heard his wife yell for him, he spilled his tea.
"Aw... Not my tea!" He complained.
~~
I'm at Kyoshi Island now for... I don't know. But there's this Kyoshi warrior thing that seemed interesting so I asked if I could, like, join or something. I was able to join and I was given a traditional dress that I had to wear. I didn't complain about the dress since I wore dresses back at home but I did have one problem: we had to follow all traditions so I had to wear makeup. But eventually I got used to it and I didn't mind afterwards because no guy would see how I really look under all the makeup.
~1 Month Later~
It's been a month since I arrived at Kyoshi Island. I've met the villagers and I have a great friend now; her name's Suki and she's also a Kyoshi warrior. She's the greatest person I've met so far.
~~
After searching for their beloved daughter for a month now, they decided to get two of their old friends from the Fire Nation to find her and bring her back.
"We will certainly find Lady Chin and bring her home safely, Queen Yuko, King Hong." General Iroh assured her and her husband. Queen Yuko had been crying and King Hong had been annoyed with it. "Won't we Prince Zuko?" All the prince did was grunt in annoyance. General Iroh took that as a yes and so did the Queen and King.
"Thank you." King Hong showed his gratitude but Queen Yuko was too busy crying.
~~
We were told that outsiders had landed by the shore and we were sent to investigate. I was right behind Suki as she raced through the trees. I heard voices. It sounded like two male and a female. Suki gave me the cue to attack. I dealt with the female and in a split second, the three were tied up and blindfolded. And their lemur tied in a little bag.
Back in the village, they were asked many questions.
"How could a bunch of girls take us down?" One of the males inquired. This angered all the warriors.
"I'm sorry. My brother can be an idiot sometimes." The female retorted frantically while laughing a bit.
"I'm sorry. It's my fault. I just wanted to ride the elephant koi." The bald male apologized.
"Why should we believe you? You could be Fire Nation spies for all we know!" Suki retorted. We were ordered that they be thrown to the Unagi. The bald then claimed that he was the Avatar.
"But that's impossible. The Avatar died over a hundred years ago." Suki countered.
"Um... I hate to break it to ya, but it's possible." I told Suki coolly. He then flew into the air. Everyone was surprised but you know, I wasn't. At least not too much... He then pulled out a marble and did a supposedly 'funny' trick that sent the whole village, excluding me, into a fit of laughter. Something must be wrong with them...
The Avatar's visit must've kicked the village into high gear because they were restoring the statue of Avatar Kyoshi, which it needed. A lot. I also learned their names. The female was Katara, Sokka was her older brother, and the Avatar was Aang. Oh, and the lemur was named Momo. They also had a flying bison whose name was Appa.
While the village was all excited and thrilled, us warriors were training of course. At least we were until Sokka showed up.
"Sorry ladies. Didn't mean to interrupt your dance lesson or anything. Just looking for someplace to, you know, get a little workout." He said stretching.
"Well, you're in the right place." Suki answered, watching him stretch. "Sorry about yesterday. I didn't know you were friends with the Avatar."
"It's all right. I mean, normally I'd hold a grudge, but seeing as you guys are a bunch of girls, I'll make an exception." What?! Did he just say that? Oh, he was sure gonna get it...
"I hope so," Suki replied with a condescending smile. "A big, strong man like you? We wouldn't stand a chance."
"True. But don't feel bad. After all, I'm the best warrior in my village."
"Best warrior, huh? In your whole village? Maybe you'd be kind to give us a little demonstration." He didn't expect that one coming.
"Oh. I mean I..."
"Come on girls. Wouldn't you like him to?" Suki turned to face the rest of the warriors behind her. We all nodded and chuckled in agreement.
"Well, if that's what you want... I'd be glad to. Now, you stand over there-"
"Wait! Suki, can I fight him?" I pleaded while clasping onto her arm. "I mean, since he insulted someone like me, I would like to fight him." Suki agreed. "Yay!" I said and hugged her as a thank you.
"Okay... You stand over there." He ordered and placed me in a spot in front of him. "Now this may be a little tough, but try to block me." I stood perfectly still as he tried to...'psych' me out. He moved to hit me but I stopped him by sticking my fan in between the juncture of his arm and shoulder.
"Ow!" He stumbled backwards while holding his shoulder. "Eh, he, he... Good! Of course, I was going easy on you."
"Of course..." I repeated.
"Let's see if you cold block this!" He tried to kick me, but I ducked and then threw him backwards. As he dropped to the floor, I turned and smirked. Suki smirked back approvingly.
"That does it!" He ran at me. I spun around quickly and grabbed his outstretched fist and then spun him around in circles a couple of times. I stopped still holding his arm, throwing him forward a bit. I pulled his belt off and used it to tie his leg and hand together. He hopped three steps then fell to his face.
"Anything else you'd like to teach us?" Suki questioned. All of us girls giggled. But I felt somewhat bad after I saw Sokka's face. It was slightly reddened in embarrassment. We all went back to our practice.
Until once gain we were interupted by Sokka. I was then surprised when he bowed down and pleaded to be taught. He must've learned his lesson today... Suki had finally agreed to teach him... But only if he followed all the traditions. He agreed, not knowing what he was in for. Suki told Sokka to put on the traditional warrior's attire.
"Do I have to wear this? It makes me look... Girly."
"Yes you do. The silk signifies the bravery and the gold insignia represents our honor." Suki explained. I was trying my hardest not to laugh but Aang walked by.
"Nice dress!" He said and left. I started cackling in laughter. Eventually, all the other girls had left. Suki stayed because Sokka refused to stop and I stayed to watch his progress. Watching in amusement, Sokka was performing the movements clumsily. He was getting better but he then flung his fan and it hit a tree trunk outside. I started cackling again. This time I was on the floor rolling back and forth. Sokka then shot me glares.
Suki was explaining the basic principles of the techniques and had let her guard down. Sokka was able to take advantage and knocked her onto the floor. We all were silent and still staring in surprise.
"I fell on purpose to make you feel better!" Suki leapt up in outrage.
"I got you! Admit I got you!"
"Sorry Suki. But he did get you..." I said solemnly.
"Ha, ha! See?" Sokka jabbed his finger towards her. Big mistake. Suki took it and bent it backwards causing Sokka to cry out in utter pain.
"Idiot..." I mumbled.
"Okay," She released Sokka's finger. "It was a lucky shot." Let's see if you can do it again." They circled each other and continued their spar while I continued to watch. A while later, Sokka was finally learning how to block Suki's attacks. Then the head ran up and stood, yelling in the doorway.
"Fire benders have landed on our shores!" My eyes widened and I sprang up onto my feet. "Girls! Come quickly!" Suki and I rushed out the door.
"I'm not a girl!" Sokka yelled. I then ran back in and hauled him by the wrist.
We had reached the middle of town just as the fire benders moved forward. But they didn't make it far enough because the warriors leapt from the rooftops and such and tackled the men to the ground that were on rhinos. We took out many soldiers. Suki rushed passed me to take out their leader while dodging fire. She was about to attack him when he turned his rhino and its tail ended up whacking Suki out of the way. As she slid to a stop, he had thrown fire at her. But I decided to go and help her so she wouldn't get hurt. I jumped into action, dodging a couple Fire Nation soldiers on the way, and held my fans in an attack position but noticed the leader was...oddly familiar. Now what was his name...?
Zuko! That's his name. Oh my god! It's Zuko! He's one of my childhood friends. I haven't spoken to him in, like, forever. Suki, Sokka, and I surrounded him, but Zuko spun his leg and shot fire out in a circle. It knocked me into the house, Suki into a support beam, and Sokka from his feet.
"Your little warrior girls won't stop me!" Zuko shouted to Aang as I stepped back outside and gained my stability. I then noticed that Zuko had attacked Aang. Knowing he could handle Zuko, I grabbed Suki and Sokka by their wrist and hid behind one of the houses for protection. I stood at the corner of the house to look out for any fire benders while Suki and Sokka said their goodbye. Suki had kissed Sokka by the sound of it and ordered him on what to do now.
"Now get out of here. Chin and I will hold them off." I nodded and grabbed Suki's hand and Sokka left to his friends.
~~
"Hong...?"
"Yes, Yuko?" The King stopped drinking his tea and turned to face his wife showing her that his eye was twitching out of annoyance.
"When do you think General Iroh and Prince Zuko will return with our daughter?"
"Um... I don't know now stop worrying so much."
"It's not only Chin I'm worried about. I'm also worried about Takeshi. He's worrying if Chin is doing well al alone..."
~~
After Aang and his companions were able to escape from Kyoshi Island, Suki, me, and everyone else were relieved that the fire benders had stopped because the town was burning in flames. But luckily Aang decided to help us and put out the fire with the Unagi.
~Few Minutes Later~
"I'm sorry Suki. I must leave Kyoshi Island. I fear some people are searching for me too..." I apologized to her with my belongings in hand.
"But... Why? You're my best friend Chin..."
"I know. But I must leave. Maybe I'll see you again..." I then left. One problem though... I don't really know where to go.
